A DVTK-nak van az egyik legnagyobb szurkolótábor az országban annak ellenére, hogy
még sosem volt bajnok a csapat. Az eddigi legjobb eredményük egy bronzérem még
1979-ből, ennek ellenére bőven kerültek már be játékosok a válogatottba Miskolcról.
Ugrai Roland volt a legutóbbi labdarúgó, akit a DVTK csapatából hívtak be a magyar
válogatottba. A játékos 2016 és 2018 között erősítette a miskolci csapatot, 2017
októberében pedig bemutatkozott a válogatottban egy Svájc elleni vb-selejtezőn, amelyen
ráadásul egyből gólt is szerzett. Ugrai ezután még párszor megkapta a lehetőséget, utoljára
2018 októberében ölthette magára a válogatott mezt a 22 Bet adatai alapján.
Már valószínűleg kevesen emlékeznek rá a hosszú légiós évek mellett korábban a
Diósgyőrben is játszott Kádár Tamás. Kádár 2008-ban került Zalaegerszegről a Newcastle
United csapatához, ahonnan 2013-ban tért haza és Miskolcra szerződött, ahol két évet
töltött el. A játékos már jóval korábban, még 2010-ben bemutatkozott már a válogatottban és
természetesen amikor a DVTK-ban futballozott akkor is alapembere volt a csapatnak. A
hosszú évek után Újpestre hazatérő játékos 57-szeres válogatottnak mondhatja magát.
Elek Ákos Ózdon született és ott is kezdett el focizni, majd egy másik borsodi helyre,
Kazincbarcikára került. Ezután a Videoton igazolta le, de nem meglepő, hogy később a
legnagyobb borsodi klubot a DVTK-t is megjárta. Elek 4 év fehérvári kitérő után töltött el 3
évet Miskolcon, ahonnan szintén folyamatosan megkapta a válogatott meghívót. 2012.
szeptember 7-én a 75. percben Hajnal Tamást váltva szerepelt a válogatottban először
diósgyőriként, akkor sorrendben tizenkilencedik alkalommal. Ezután még tizenkétszer
szerepelt a nemzeti tizenegyben, ezzel holtversenyben ő lett a válogatottba legtöbbször
bekerült diósgyőri labdarúgó és ő az egyetlen diósgyőri játékos, aki világversenyen
képviselhette a csapatot, a 2016-os Európa-bajnokságon.
Rajtuk kívül a 2000-es években még három diósgyőri játékos kapta meg a lehetőséget a
válogatottban. Futács Márkó 2014. március 5-én a Finnország elleni barátságos mérkőzésen
debütált a válogatottban, összesen háromszor képviselte a miskolci csapatot. Rudolf Gergely
egyszer lépett pályára a válogatottban miskolciként, Köteles László pedig a DVTK kapus volt,
amikor behívták a keretbe, de nem lépett pályára.
